According to a decision of the Council of Ministers from 2012 the port workers of Piraeus should have been included in Heavy and Unhealthy Occupations
According to a decision of the Council of State (no. 1431/2024) from August 2012, the port workers on piers II and III of the Port of Piraeus should be fully subject to the Regulation of Heavy and Unsanitary Occupations (HSO).
In particular, in 2018 the “Association of Businesses and Industries” (SEB) appealed to the Council of Ministers and asked for the annulment of the circular of the governor of the Unified Social Security Agency (E.F.K.A.) on the “insurance of workers at the container station” at piers II and III of the Port of Piraeus” and on the other hand the decision of the Deputy Minister of Labor “regarding the insurance of workers at the container station at piers II and III of the Port of Piraeus”.
The “Union of Container Handling Workers at Piers II and III of the Port of Piraeus (EN.E.D.E.P.)” had intervened in the CoE in favor of being classified as heavy and unhealthy.
Subsequently, the 1st Department of the CoE (7-member composition) chaired by Vice-President Spyridoula Chrysikopoulou and rapporteur by State Councilor Christos Liakouras, partially annulled the 46/15.10.2018 act of the EFKA governor only in the part that defines it from 8/ 2018 salary period as the entry into force of the heavy and unhealthy workers at piers II and III of the port of Piraeus.
