The impressive marble quarries in the area of ​​Volakas, in the municipality of Kato Nevrokopi in the mountainous area of ​​Drama, will be transformed into a Hollywood set for the next period as they will be the setting for filming a new movie with popular protagonists such as Vincent Cassel, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Evans, Salma Hayek and Sam Richardson.

To date, little information has been released about the case, but it is an action film with a central theme of climate change and environmental protection.

The film is being shot on behalf of the well-known subscription platform Netflix, while the script and direction are signed by Romain Gavras (son of Costas Gavras) and Will Arbury, writer and producer at Succession.

The shooting of the film is expected to start today and will last until November 2, however, there is absolute secrecy about the case and the arrival of the stars in the area.

The scenery and the big production

Speaking to APE-MBE, the president of the hoteliers’ association of Drama and gen. secretary of the Panhellenic Federation of Hoteliers, Angelos Kallias, emphasizes that the technical workshops of this large production and the support staff they have arrived in Drama for days to prepare the production.

More than 150 people are already in our area“, emphasizes Mr. Kallias and adds: “for the needs of the film, around two hundred rooms in the wider area have been closed by the production. From what we have been informed so far, the filming will take place in the quarries of Volakas, in a stoa which has been suitably shaped for the needs of the film”.

For the needs of this large production, they have been set up special platforms and auxiliary spaces inside one of the quarries of Volakaswhile filming will also take place on the road that leads to the ski center of Falakros.

Also, according to leaked information, scenes of the film will also be shot in studios in neighboring Bulgaria.

It should be noted that this is the second time that the area of ​​Drama has been chosen for the filming of an international production. The first was in 2022, when a film called “Tin Soldier” was shot, which for bureaucratic reasons has not yet been shown.

However, the local actors of Drama state that they are particularly satisfied with the new production that is being filmed. They note that the producers of motion pictures included the area in their planning, sending the message that they were satisfied, both with the natural environment and the beauties and with the hospitality, comforts and conveniences provided to them during the filming.
