Footage from yesterday’s search and rescue operation of 40 migrants in Samos, was released on Sunday by the LS-EL.AKT and the Air Force.

It is recalled that at noon on Saturday, the Port Authority of Samos was informed by the Unified Center for Coordination of Search and Rescue (E.K.S.E.D.) LS-EL.AKT about the existence of people in the sea in the beach area Kidding.

Under the coordination of the E.K.S.E.D., investigations were launched by an Open Sea Vessel (OSV), a life-saving vessel, a patrol vessel (PLS), a vessel of the Frontex force, a high-speed vessel of the Hellenic Rescue Team , while an Air Force Super Puma helicopter also took off, which rescued two people from the sea area west of Samos.

The Police Directorate and the Fire Service of the island were also mobilized.

The Coast Guard Boat located and collected two people from the sea, while the PATH auxiliary vessel located and collected one more person.

Twenty-three foreigners were located and rescued from a rocky shore by the PATH auxiliary vessel, while another 12 people were located by officers of the Fire Service, the Police Directorate and the Port Authority of Karlovasos in a land area.

The 38 rescued foreigners were handed over to officers of the Samos Police Department and transferred to the local Closed Controlled Facility, in Zervos Mytilene.
