With its “precise, lethal and surprise” attack on Iran, the Israel sent a clear message, Israel’s defense minister said, Joab Gallantstressing that “Israel’s long arm will reach anyone who tries to harm us.”
“There is no place that is far for us,” Gallant said at the ceremony for the troops killed in the field by October 7th 2023.
He added that Hamas “has ceased to operate militarily”, while for Hezbollah he said that “its chain of command has been eliminated, most of its missile force has been destroyed and its forces have retreated from the borders”.
Terrorist groups no longer represent “an effective tool in the hands of Iran,” he argued.
However, he emphasized that not every goal can be achieved with military force.
“Returning the hostages to their homes requires painful compromises,” Gallant said.
“We must do this for the hostages, for their families, for the soldiers who fell for this goal, for the legacy of the IDF and in the name of the Jewish and national ethos.”
“This is our responsibility,” he said.
