Inconvenience for hundreds of excursionists returning from the three-day trip on October 28 was caused by the stranding of the ship “Agia Theodora”, four nautical miles northwest of Igoumenitsa near the mouth of the Kalamas river.

The ship has 550 passengers and 16 crew members while as reported by Corfu TV, there is also a disturbance at the port of Igoumenitsa with cars waiting in lines at the port.

According to a new update from the Port Authority, passengers from Igoumenitsa to Corfu depart on an emergency route that will be operated by the ship “Ano Chora” so that there will be no more inconvenience to the passengers.

The grounding of “Agia Theodora” took place around 19:00 and there are a Coast Guard boat and a tourist passenger boat at the spot.

The crew gives the world what it needs, while there is plenty of disruption.

At the same time, three tugboats, three Coast Guard boats and a private boat rushed to the scene.

The weather is good.

The operation to detach the ship which ran aground is ongoing.

According to the testimonies of the passengers in APE-MBE, the “Agia Theodora” departed from Corfu with a delay due to the large number of vehicles and passengers.

Around 19:00 the passengers felt a jolt and the ship got stuck in the shallows and they estimate that there was an unsuccessful attempt by the crew to detach it.

A patrol car of the Port Authority of Igoumenitsa was the first to arrive at the scene of the incident and then the tugboats also rushed.
