Meeting with the representatives of the Regional Union of Municipalities (PED) of Western Macedonia, the Regional Governor and the Members of the area had the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis and the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Secretary General of the PDP & PA Katerina Economou.

At the meeting, the Deputy Minister signed the Ministerial Decision that approved the new Special Development Program for a fair development transition (DAM) under the National Development Program (Special EPAM-DAM Program), an initial budget of EUR 186.7 million.

The aim of this new program is to further fund actions and projects that will contribute, on the one hand, to create new jobs in the transition areas, on the other, to strengthen and gradually differentiate local economies, emphasizing primarily on municipalities and operators of these areas.

The Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance referred to the excellent progress presented by the implementation of the existing DAM program, with a total budget of approximately € 1.62 billion, specializing in more than 70% with the integration of 814 projects reaching € 800 million, of which € 58 million.

It also announced:

  • New action to boost investment projects from 2,000 – 20,000 euros (de minimis) by new and existing very small and small businesses in the mainland DAM (Western Macedonia Region & Municipalities of Megalopolis, Tripoli, Gortynia and Ochalia), within the year, € 20 million.
  • A new cycle of actions for enhancing entrepreneurship, through the General Executing Regulation (Reg. 651/2014), within 2026, of approximately EUR 200 million.

“Today’s announcements prove in practice the state’s continuous support in the areas and citizens who are more directly affected by our country’s energy transition, with the aim of a sustainable and durable future, even more jobs, especially for young people and young people, who can stay and remain in the place.”
