As of midday, a 47-year-old man who apologized to the Thessaloniki prosecutor on the charge of stealing has been considered a fugitive eight natural gas boilers from apartment balconies. Shortly before he was notified of the decision on his temporary detention, he chose to disappear, while an arrest warrant was issued against him and he is wanted by the police.

Accompanied by his lawyer, the fugitive arrived as usual in the morning for the planned “appointment” with the Thessaloniki investigator. He was free and therefore no police custody was foreseen in his case. After apologizing to both the interrogator and the prosecutor, denying the charge against him (distinguished theft by profession), he decided to go “smoke” – probably realizing that the decision of the court officials would lead him to prison. Although he was searched in the corridors of the courts, he was not located.

According to information, the 47-year-old has been accused of similar acts in the past and was locked up in a detention center. A 41-year-old compatriot is accused of the case, who was called to give an explanation to the investigator immediately after the 47-year-old and took the road to prison.

According to the case file, the two men are accused of stealing eight gas boilers (and a gas meter) from apartments in western Thessaloniki, where they climbed, between September 2023 and February this year. They had been identified by the police based on the use of material from a security camera, the first, and a fingerprint, the second.
