Nurse sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for the death of a young patient in child care and protection structure with disability of Central Macedonia, in November 2021.

After a multi-day hearing, the Mixed Jury Court of Katerini found the 57-year-old defendant guilty of fatal bodily injury to a weak person (by a majority of 4-3), without recognizing him any mitigating circumstances, while deciding that the appeal should have a suspensive effect on the execution of the sentence, resulting in his release.

In his apology, he denied the accusation, stressing that he never hit the victim. He claimed that the death of the 21-year-old patient came from another food item in the structure.

THE 21 years old Paris he had lost his life 24 hours after being admitted to the Papanikolaou Hospital in Thessaloniki and after a beating he suffered. According to the forensic findings, his death was attributed to cerebral hemorrhage.

A preliminary investigation followed, which had caused successive lawsuits and reports against everyone responsible, including the victim’s parents and the then Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Domna Michailidou.
