The perpetrator appeared to the 58-year-old as a doctor and as a man fascinated by her personality, so much so that he proposed to marry her
For his eyes alone… which he had not seen, a 58-year-old woman from Patras lost 13,000 euros.
The scam was well set up as seen by the … mysterious lover who appeared to the 58-year-old via WhatsApp, according to tempo24.
The perpetrator appeared to the 58-year-old as a doctor and as a man fascinated by her personality, so much so that he proposed to marry her, to leave Patras and live in London.
The nice words of the “doctor” to the 58-year-old about a dream life in London, had “bewitched” the lonely woman, who not only opened her heart, but also her bank account.
According to information from tempo24, the 58-year-old seems to have never met her love, except through the phone app and as she reportedly later told the police, they had spoken once on the phone.
But when he realized that the “doctor” was a fraud it was too late. As she later testified to the police, the perpetrator, after convincing her of his intentions, asked her to give him her money to “safeguard” it until they left for London.
