Available in versions with 125PS or 155PS power, the leading and award-winning 1.0L EcoBoost Hybrid engine of the Ford Focus features 48-volt mild hybrid technology combined in the first case with a 6-speed manual transmission and in the second with the advanced 7-speed Pwoershift automatic transmission. In this advanced 3-cylinder engine from Ford, in place of the standard alternator we find an integrated starter/generator (BISG), which takes motion via a belt allowing the energy normally lost during braking and rolling to be recovered and stored in a compact battery of lithium ions. The BISG system also works as a motor, providing the necessary assistance either to increase the total torque available from the internal combustion engine for a more immediate response to accelerations on the move, or to reduce the load on the engine, for the benefit of consumption.

For those drivers with more mileage, Ford’s acclaimed 1.5L EcoBlue diesel engine – with integrated intake manifold, low-idle turbocharger and high-pressure fuel injection to reduce emissions and increase combustion efficiency – is also available in with an output of 115PS, combined with an equally advanced 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Developed by Ford Performance, the top version of the Ford Focus is the ST, which comes to stimulate driving passions, primarily thanks to the stormy performance of 280PS and 420Nm of Ford’s mighty 2.3L EcoBoost petrol engine. This engine is backed by a twin-scroll turbocharger and anti-lag technology, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed automatic. Other high-performance technologies in the ST version include the electronically controlled limited slip differential, which improves the car’s cornering behavior and traction during acceleration, while Continuously Controlled Damping is also available, which in turn monitors data from the systems steering, braking, suspension and body 500 times per second to adjust shock damping for either optimal ride quality or better cornering control.

The Ford Focus also includes Drive Modes technology, which allows drivers to choose between Normal, Sport and Eco programs to adjust the response of the accelerator pedal, the EPAS electronically assisted steering system and the automatic transmission (if if present), depending on the requirements and the respective driving scenario. The Active models also feature both the Slippery program, which offers increased confidence on slippery surfaces, and Trail, which is designed for the vehicle to maintain its momentum on rough surfaces.

With LED headlights as standard equipment and advanced SYNC 4 connectivity with a new 13.2-inch touchscreen

With each version of the model boasting its own distinct identity, the new Focus introduces fresh and dynamic lines inspired by Ford’s familiar human-centred design philosophy. A point of reference here are the new LED headlights, which are part of the basic equipment of all versions. The result is a more sporty, spare and elegant design of the lower part of the front of the car, combined with a distinctive and dynamic light signature.

At the same time, the new Focus integrates into its quality and luxurious interior the latest Ford comfort, driving and connectivity technologies for a more relaxing driving experience. In particular, the SYNC 4 system is now supported by a 5G modem as well as a new, 13.2-inch diagonal central touchscreen with an intuitive interface, which means that all drivers can now with no more than one or two taps manage the applications, information or systems they desire. The new touchscreen also includes controls for functions such as heating and ventilation, which were previously activated by physical buttons. This results in an even more redundant and minimalistic center console. The system also offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, enabling seamless integration between smartphone and SYNC 4 functions.

The SYNC 4 system also enables over-the-air Ford Power-Up software updates that will improve all Focuses over time. These updates can install much of the new software in the background or at predetermined times, with many of them requiring little or no action from customers.
