The police dismantled a gang that was committing thefts from apartments, business premises – shops and public services in areas of Attica.

In fact, the gang includes the two thieves who ehad remove laptops and computers from the Ministry of National Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family.

For the case 2 were arrested gang members and one more identified, wanted.

A case file was filed against them for a gang that commits completed and attempted thefts, by profession and by habit, by complicity, by follow-up and simple collaboration in the above acts.

They sold their loot to thieves

Appropriate use of information about a gang, whose members committed thefts, was preceded by removing cash, valuables and electrical appliances (mobile computers and laptops), which they had available to recipients of theftwith the aim of obtaining an illegal financial benefit.

From the preliminary investigation carried out, the participation of the gang members in -5- cases of theft was confirmed, namely:

  • in the morning hours of 05-10-2023, they entered a law office in Exarchia, breaching the main entrance, from where they removed -32- euros and tried to remove a safe, which due to the inability to transport them they did not succeed,
  • at the same time, in the same building, they broke into a 4th floor apartment, breaching the balcony door, and took a handbag and other items,
  • morning hours of 08-31-2023, a member of the gang, having covered his features, entered, by breaking a lock, a store of health interest in the area of ​​Peristeri, from where he removed the amount of -5,000- euros,
  • morning hours of 09-17-2024, members of the gang entered, with covered features, the 5th floor of the Ministry of Labor, located in the center of Athens, breaking through an office balcony door, without removing anything, and then went to the offices of Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family, located in the same building, removing 30 laptops, with a total value of 30,000 euros.
  • on the same day, they entered its 5th floor Ministry of National Economy and Finance housed in the center of Athens, from where they removed 3 computer monitors and 1 coffee maker.

From the house searches, clothes, gloves, shoes, mobile phones and a folding knife were found and confiscated. A relative of one of the defendants was also found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis and was arrested for violating drug laws.

Those arrested were taken to the competent prosecutor’s office.
