One episode before the end of the great documentary series by Alexis Papachelas, we follow step by step a political thriller and arrive at the moment when the fate of Cyprus was determined and changed the modern history of Greece.

In the fifth episode of the series, we watch the overthrow of George Papadopoulos and the rise to power of Brigadier General Dimitrios Ioannidis who moves the strings from behind the scenes. The discovery of oil deposits in Prinos causes excitement in the regime, but Turkey finds an opportunity and raises the Aegean issue for the first time, while the Americans propose joint exploitation. The situation in Cyprus is tense and Ioannidis orders the overthrow of Makarios. Commandos invade the Presidential Palace of Cyprus on July 15, 1974 and change the course of History. The dictator insists that Turkey will not react to the new coup, but he is flatly denied. We follow the incredible thriller starring Ioannidis, Kissinger and Etcevit and the CIA’s messages, from the eve of Makarios’ overthrow to the dawn of July 20.
