A paradoxical practice, regarding the reproduction of frogs, causes laughter but is of great importance for the survival of the females
The “I have a headache” has gone to another level, the female frogs which, as scientists have found, pretend to be… dead in order to avoid sex!
Of course, the finding of the above practice may cause plenty of laughter, however, as pointed out in relevant research findings of the Royal Society Open Science, this action is essentially a survival mechanism for females, as the way males desire reproduction, in relation to these, differs by essentially causing discomfort to the “weaker sex”.
The increased efforts of males to mate include harassment, coercion and intimidation of females, conditions that not only hinder the entire reproductive process but also put their lives in immediate danger.

Many males attach themselves to a female, who for the most part cannot get rid of it.
From the literature, it is found that female frogs have no other means of rejecting unwanted males, thus even resorting to the defensive tactic of tonic immobility in order to hide signs of vitality and avoid mating and harassment.
