Sylvester Stallone calls Trump the ‘second George Washington’ and compares him to Rocky Balboa

by

Actor Sylvester Stallone, 78, praised Donald Trump on stage at an event for the president-elect of the United States in Mar-a-Lago this Thursday (14), praising him as the “second George Washington”.

The two shook hands before Trump’s keynote address at the event held at the Republican’s luxury resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

Stallone opened his speech with a comparison drawing connections between Trump, Jesus Christ and his boxer character Rocky Balboa. “When I did ‘Rocky,’ if you remember, the first image was a picture of Jesus,” he said. “It was a church that had been turned into a boxing ring.”

In the film’s opening scene, he recalled, “the image pans away from Jesus to Rocky being shot.” “And at that moment, he was a chosen person. And that’s how I started the journey. Something was going to happen. This man would go through a metamorphosis and change lives — just like President Trump,” said the actor.

“We are in the presence of a truly mythical character. I love mythology,” Stallone also said when speaking of the president-elect. “Nobody in the world could have done what he did. So I’m impressed.”

“I’m just going to say this — and I mean it,” he continued. “When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea he would change the world. Because without him, you could only imagine what the world would be like. Guess what? We have the second George Washington. Congratulations!”
