As stated in today’s relevant announcement by the police, an accomplice of the local woman who was arrested and a case file was filed against her, called the elderly woman on 9/11 pretending to be a doctor and asking for the amount of money 50,000 euros, she claimed that her daughter has been injured and is in need of allegedly emergency surgery.

In fact, to make it more believable, his female accomplice could also be heard on the phone, telling her to hand over the money. In this way, they managed to extract the sum of 18,200 euros from her, which was received by the aforementioned woman, whose details have been identified.

The investigation of the police continues both for the identification of the details of her accomplices, as well as for their possible participation in other similar criminal acts.

On the occasion of this new incident, the General Regional Police Directorate of Central Macedonia, in order to avoid deception of unsuspecting citizens by vigilantes, recommends:

*Don’t trust strangers who try to convince you over the phone to give them money, due to an urgent need of a relative or friend of yours.

*Do not be convinced if the perpetrators give you to talk on the phone with an alleged relative of yours.

*Do not accept any meeting – date with strangers and state that you are not going to give money.

*Always have emergency phone numbers available (Police, Fire, hospitals, relatives, etc.).
