Criminal proceedings have been brought against the president of Olympiakos Vangelis Marinakis and the members of the team’s administration Yannis Moralis, Kostas Karapapas, Michalis Kountouris and Dimitris Agrafiotis for the case of the murder of the police officer Giorgos Lyggeridiswho was killed by a naval flare in incidents at Rentis, in December 2023.

The 5 men are charged with the offenses of supporting – financing a criminal organization and inciting sports violence and next Tuesday they will be called to apologize to the 9th ordinary investigator who is handling the large case file with more than 160 defendants for the criminal organization of hooligans which, among other things, includes the murder of MAT police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis with a naval flare .
The members of the administration were not among the original defendants, but their summons comes approximately seven months after the case was taken over by the specific judicial officer and after dozens of witnesses were examined and additional apologies were given by the defendants.
At the same time, the investigator now has in his hands all the evidence from the video material that was analyzed in the Police Forensic Laboratories.

Their involvement

In particular, as it is mentioned about the leadership of PAE OLYMPIAKOS in the file filed after the murder of the unfortunate policeman: “it cannot be ruled out that the criminal organization is directed, covertly and at the highest level, by members of the management or executives of PAE OLYMPIAKOS (football team ) and the sports association with the name “OLYMPIC PHILATHLON ASSOCIATION OF PIRAEUS” (O.S.F.P.), without their participation and “high protection”, the leading members of the criminal organization would not have the universal and unquestioning acceptance and obedience of the lower members and consequently the criminal organization would not exist otherwise it would have a very limited scope and action…”
