The imposing Christmas tree from the Taxiarchis of Halkidiki has reached the “heart” of Aristotelous Square in Thessaloniki and is ready to be decorated with thousands of lanterns, marking the countdown to the arrival of Christmas.
The decoration of the city has already started by the services of the municipality of Thessaloniki with the lights being placed on trees and columns, as well as on the main streets. In the next few days, the fir tree and in general the axis of Aristotle will be decorated so that everything will be ready for Saturday, November 30, when the illumination event will take place.
OR administration of Stelios Angeloudis chose to light the Christmas tree on the day on which the subway routes officially start in Thessaloniki, while for the same evening the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce organizes a “White Night” with the city’s shops remaining open until midnight.
The parallel events are expected to get Thessaloniki on its feet, with the involved bodies wishing the 30 November to be a great celebration. For this reason, the central municipality, in addition to the lighting of the tree, is also organizing a big concert in Aristotelous with well-known names of the music scene, which are expected to attract a large number of people.
At the same time, the wooden houses began to be placed in the square of the Courts, in the “shadow” of the statue of Venizelos. Dozens of houses that will sell hot drinks, Christmas sweets, decorations and gifts from December 7 and for a month along with Santa’s crimson house will make up the Christmas Village, set up by the Trade Association.
