A petition was filed today at the Areio Pagos by the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance Konstantinos Kyranakis together with the President of the NPDD. “Hellenic Land Registry”, Styliano Sacaretsio, for a case of fraud by a possible ring of citizens and professionals with forged documents.

According to the statements of the deputy minister, the lawsuit concerns a palleged fraud and forgery ring in 3 Saronic islands, involving a notary based in northern Greece.

“We have identified a possible ring of citizens and professionals tried to declare 45 properties in Agistri Hydra Spetses with a total area of ​​over 550,000 square meters, for which amended statements E9. Affidavits were subsequently produced by the same specific persons residing in northern Greece who declared under oath that these properties belong to the specific citizen. These statements were drawn up before the same notary based in northern Greece” said Mr. Kyranakis.

“Such cases are now more easily detected thanks to technology. We want to inform the general public and every prospective citizen who may have such with fears in their mind that they will have the same strict ones. The sentence that has been passed is five to 10 years for felony fraud and if public property is involved it is 10 to 20 years. More checks will be conducted with these tools to do justice to find such cases that wrong private individuals. We handed over all the information to the prosecutor of the Supreme Court” concluded the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance.

For his part, the president of the National Land Registry, Stylianos Sakaretsios, stated that “we have a case where a citizen of Northern Greece in collaboration with two witnesses also B. Greece appeared at the land registry office and submitted 550,000 square meter claim statement, scattered properties on 3 Argosaronic islands, which apparently do not belong to them”.

“As we upgrade the digital tools of the Greek land registry, the possibilities to carry out checks are enhanced, we have started to carry out a series of checks with many criteria, we can algorithmically find those cases that are suspicious in order to proceed with a technical evaluation”, he emphasized.
