The two major investment projects carried out at the Hellenic Defense Systems (EAS) factory complex in Lavrio are progressing normally according to the planned schedule.

The company announced that these are projects co-financed by the European Union through the ASAP action which aims to strengthen the production base of artillery ammunition in Europe.

Today, Tuesday November 26, the project officer of the European Commission visited Lavrio and was informed on the spot about the progress of the projects.

In more detail, according to the EAS announcement, the LAVGRAIN project concerns the installation of a base bleed grain production unit for 155 mm artillery shells, while the TNTrion program concerns the modernization and re-operation of the trinitrotoluene (TNT) production unit.

The technical teams of EAS and MSM have started collaborating on the projects from the end of 2023 in order to submit the proposals to the European Commission, which were approved in the spring of 2024, the announcement added.

In July the financing agreements with the European Commission were signed and in August the advances were collected.

The projects have a tight schedule, the announcement points out, as it is a requirement of the European Commission that the European ammunition industry recover as soon as possible.
