A dead 75-year-old man was picked up Saturday afternoon from his home in Lemnos by EKAV. He slipped and fatally injured his head while clearing the steps of his house from the waters of the Bora storm. He was taken to Myrina Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A rancher died earlier
According to the fire brigade, the man who was missing in the area of ​​Kontias, in Lemnos, was found dead earlier.
His car had been found mangled having been swept away by the rapids due to the wave of bad weather that hit the island. The authorities had launched an investigation to locate the man.
According to the deputy mayor of Lemnos, Ioanna Giannakari who spoke to SKAI, the man, aged about 57, was a cattle breeder and the operation to retrieve the body is currently underway. 10 firefighters with 3 vehicles participate in the operation.
According to information, the 57-year-old man, while trying to hitch his car to his tractor, in order to get it out of the mud, was swept away by the rushing waters.
His stable was 200 meters from the spot. When his car got stuck in the mud, he went to the barn, got his tractor and the incident happened.
