Schools will be closed tomorrow, Monday, December 2 Municipality of Pylaia-Hortiatis due to extreme weather conditions. According to the announcement of the municipality, the closure concerns all schools of all levels, in all areas of the municipality in order to protect the integrity of students and teachers and to carry out the mandatory assessment of all kinds of damage to the facilities and courtyards of the school units.

Schools of all grades in the municipality of Thessaloniki will remain closed tomorrow, Monday, due to the severe weather conditions prevailing in the city. According to a statement from the municipal authority, “the absolute priority remains the safety of the entire educational community”.
Regarding the problems arising from the bad weather Bora, the mayor of Thessaloniki, Stelios Angeloudis, emphasizes that the employees of the municipality “are fighting an unequal battle”, noting that by 9 am on Sunday, more than 300 fallen trees had already been reported throughout the urban complex of Thessaloniki.
The employees of the municipality together with the Fire Service, the Greek Police and the voluntary Civil Protection Organizations are fighting to remove hundreds of trees that have been uprooted, causing heaps of traffic problems and significant damage to citizens’ property.
In addition, citizens are advised to limit their movements to those absolutely necessary in order to avoid injuries from falling trees, plaster, etc. At the same time, an appeal is made until tomorrow evening to avoid the disposal of bulky objects, since all official vehicles are available for the collection and removal of fallen trees and also for the disposal of waste, as the collection is carried out normally but obviously under particularly adverse conditions .
Due to falling trees and lighting poles during the bad weather, the Cemeteries of Agia Paraskevi, Evangelistria and Malakopi will remain temporarily closed for burials and public visits from Monday to Wednesday, December 4. Resurrection of the Lord Cemeteries will operate normally.

Chalcidice
