A new complaint about a long delay in the biopsy results at the 424 Military Hospital of Thessaloniki, has seen the light of day, this time from a 65-year-old retired colonel of the Greek Army, who reported that he learned he had cancer 8 months late.

He himself went to the Military Court of Thessaloniki in the morning to testify, in the context of the lawsuit he had filed a few days ago, for the same reason, a 55-year-old police officer.

Accompanied by his lawyers and referring to his own adventure, the 65-year-old noted the following:

“In June 2019, I had a growth on my leg, on my right shin. I had an operation at the Military Hospital and told the doctor who operated on me to send the biopsy out. I even told him twice. He replied that there is no reason. After three months I bothered him again but got no response. I called him again and again. At 7 months, in January 2020 two small lumps came out on my leg and I called him. He told me don’t worry we will make it. The biopsy nothing…

In February I called the person in charge of the biopsy and said “what’s going on? I’ve been waiting so long”. He told me “take it in two days” and then he tells me cynically and coldly “you have malignancy”. The complainant wondered where these findings were forgotten and lost and added: “luckily it did not metastasize. I believe in justice, I believe the truth will be found. I’m really sorry because no one should play with our lives.”

It is recalled that in the case of the 55-year-old police officer, an EDE was ordered by order of the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias. With his lawsuit, the police officer turns against two doctors, requesting that they be prosecuted for the crime of exposure that resulted in grievous bodily harm. He abandons them because he underwent surgery in December 2022 for acute appendicitis and a year later they informed him, based on the results of the biopsy, that it was cancer.
