A heinous theft in a Messinian oil mill happened last Friday when two unknown attackers wearing hoods entered the forecourt of the olive mill and loaded 33 sacks of olives into the back of a stolen truck.

According to elefteriaonline, when they were noticed by a passing driver, they managed to run away, having already grabbed the 33 sacks of olives.

They were informed by members of the Glyfada Cooperative and the Police, who were at the scene and recorded the unprecedented incident and launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators.

As it emerged from closed-circuit cameras, the van belonged to the Municipality of Pylos-Nestoros and had been stolen two days ago from the fenced garage of the Municipality in Chora.

According to information, before committing the theft of the sacks in Glyfada, the unknown perpetrators had passed through Chora, Korifassios and Tragana.

They even abandoned the van in the same place where it had been stolen, at the municipal depot in Chora (they damaged the vehicle’s switch), without of course the sacks they had unloaded earlier.

The Municipality of Pylos – Nestoros filed a lawsuit against unknown persons at the Gargaliani Police Department, which has taken over the case together with the Pylos Police Department.

This is yet another incident of theft of sacks of olives in an area where the olive harvest is at its peak and, understandably, there is concern among producers and residents of the area.

Finally, the Agricultural Cooperative of Glyfada intends to compensate the two producers who were affected by the theft of the 33 sacks, while requesting more policing in the area.
