Handcuffed, the 44-year-old allegedly “mastermind” of the ring that blackmailed the deputy governor of Ilia, Nikos Korovesis, left the Pyrgos Courthouse in handcuffs, after the Ilias Investigator and the Ilias District Attorney unanimously decided on his pre-trial detention.

This is the second defendant, who is also charged with criminal acts, who is on his way to prison, and more specifically to the Korydallos Detention Center, after his 35-year-old co-accused, who on December 3 was deemed a temporary prisoner.

According to information from the “Patris”, the 44-year-old, who apologized for the criminal prosecution that has been brought against him for extortion in succession, jointly and severally, by profession and with the establishment of a gang, denied the accusations attributed to him and argued before the Investigator Ilias that it has nothing to do with what the complainant is complaining about.

According to the same information, the 44-year-old, in addition to the answers he gave to the court officer’s questions, submitted to the Investigator a twenty-eight-page apologetic memorandum, as well as correspondence, the majority of which refer to the social relationship he claimed he had with the deputy governor of Ilias, on which the defendant’s line of defense was based, with the defendant’s main claim being that there is no extortion.

As it has been written in recent reports of eff. “Patris” in relation to the case, the 44-year-old accused is allegedly an accomplice in three cases of extortion committed against Nikos Korovesis, in May 2023, the summer of 2024 and at the end of November 2024, where he was arrested in an operation of the Sub-Directorate of Security Pyrgos in Amaliada, the 35-year-old remanded in custody and the other attorney, charged with misdemeanors
