The audit of the Single Independent Public Procurement Authority for an 8 million euro project, entitled “Upgrading water supply networks of the Municipality of Sithonia”, showed that while the awarding and contracting process had been completed, its execution had never started.

The most scandalous: as shown in a second document, some managed to approve payments of €3 million for work completed on February 27, 2015, just one day after the audit concluded, which found that the work had not even begun. The document contained the signature of the head of the Municipality’s Town Planning, who is said to be one of the protagonists of the ring that was “hoarding”, taking advantage of the building development of the area.
