The A4 papers are due to “overzealousness of the officials who acted in good faith to help” said the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure
An image from the publishing offices of the brand new Thessaloniki Metro with A4 stickers stuck everywhere has been doing the rounds of the internet and the media for the last few hours. Some written by hand and others on a computer, the notes inform the public: “Saturday and Sunday Free rides”, “Coins only” and “Does not give change from 10 euros”.
“Even if I saw it, I would take a picture of it and upload it to social media,” Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Nikos Tahiaos told LiFO, speaking of a “very bad image”.
The A4 papers, as he pointed out, are due to “overzealousness of the employees who acted with good intentions in wanting to help. The problems were caused due to the great pressure the system received” adding that no tests were done on the machines.
According to Mr. Tahiao, the problem is caused because the interface with the cards has not been done and it has not yet been connected to the DIAS system.
“Employees have to be constantly steaming to supply the machines with coins. They are the childhood diseases of the system” said the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, concluding with the assessment that “soon every problem will be eliminated”.
