A “manhunt” has been launched by the Police to locate and arrest the perpetrators of the murderous attack, with one dead and one seriously injured, yesterday afternoon, in Thrakomakedones.

The attackers executed a 45-year-old man by shooting him in the head, while a 46-year-old man is fighting to stay alive.

Shortly after one in the afternoon, the two men were at the junction of Aristotelous and Komotini when the vehicle with the executioners approached them. Earlier, a vehicle had been stolen in the center of Athens and they were reportedly riding in it. At the sight of them the victims tried to run, with the thugs shooting them at point-blank range.

The area was cordoned off by security men, who collected shell casings from two pistols probably used by the perpetrators. They immediately started taking statements from possible eyewitnesses and close surroundings, while they are also trying to collect footage from security cameras.

The competent police officers who have taken over the case are trying to identify both the vehicle of the perpetrators in which they escaped, as well as the activities of the victims, in order to find the motive for the murderous attack.

The 45-year-old allegedly came to the attention of the authorities in 2009, when a case was filed against him for participating in a criminal organization. The 46-year-old injured man, of Albanian origin, who had recently come to our country, has also come under the microscope of the authorities. According to information, the latter is considered “unknown” to the Greek authorities as he had never been employed in our country, while the possibility of settling accounts is being considered.
