In the initial lawsuit filed by the wife of the 45-year-old Parliament police officer, which she withdrew a few days later, the Deputy Minister of Citizen Protection Andreas Nikolakopoulos was mentioned, with the President of Plevsis Eleftheria insisting on the complaints about favorable treatment of the uniform.

In his answer to a topical question by Zoe Konstantopoulou, Mr. Nikolakopoulos gave information about the criminal file of the police officer, but also about the actions of the Prosecutor’s Office and the competent Ministry. “On February 23, 2024 the policeman’s wife went to the Kallithea Police Department and filed a lawsuit, resulting in the filing of a criminal case file for domestic bodily harm, domestic abuse of sexual dignity and bodily harm to weak persons. Acts that took place in the last 14 years up to 13.01.24 against her and her minor children. On March 2, 2024 the officer’s wife stated at the same police station that she no longer wished to prosecute him. Nevertheless, with a prosecutor’s order, the incident was investigated, a preliminary examination was ordered by AT Kallithea and the conclusion was submitted to the competent prosecutor’s office, while the weapon was removed from the police officer“, he stated.

“It is unjustifiable for this person to remain in the Parliament from February to November while there was this complaint. This shows a huge responsibility“, emphasized the president of Freedom of Navigation, underlining that “no EDE was done and they expected him to retire on his own».

Parliamentary sources said that the Security Service of the parliament was informed by the Domestic Violence Department of ELAS after March 2, 2024 both about the lawsuit against the police officer and about its withdrawal as well as about the taking over of the investigation by a competent prosecutor.
