The news of the death of the well-known actor Dimitrtis Imellos is causing sadness in the artistic world.
The great actor, originally from Naxos, had a long career in the theater and in recent years his popularity had skyrocketed through his participation in a series of very successful film and television productions with the typical one in “Sasmos” where he was the police officer “Antonis Fragiadakis ».
He passed away at the age of 57, after a battle with cancer.
He has a son.
During his studies at the Athens Law School, he joined the Theater Workshop of Vassilis Diamantopoulos and then the Drama School of Diomedes Fotiadis, from where he graduated. He also studied at the Moscow Academy of Theater Art (GITIS) in the directing department of Leonid Heifits.
He took part in plays such as: Iphigenia in the Land of the Bulls, Oedipus at Colonus, A Magnificent Horner, Perses, Antigone, Frenapati, Nostalgos, Love Struggle Agonos, That which does not end, Medea, Moliere, Dream, Tartufos, The Idiot, At the Bottom, The Last Today, Erotokritos, Amfitryon et al.
From 2001 to 2007 he was a member of the Experimental Stage of the National Theater under the direction of Stathis Livathinos, with whom the actor works closely. He also taught at the Directing and Acting Workshop as well as at the Iasmos and Delos drama schools.
In 2001 he was the first young actor to be honored with the Horn Award for his performance in Frenapati by T. Kushner directed by Stathis Livathinou, while in 2005 he was honored by the readers of “Athinorama” magazine with the male performance award for his performance in Bulgakov’s “Moliere”.
He appeared on television in 2007-08 in the series ALPHA To 10 directed by Pigis Dimitrakopoulos.
