The local community of Anopolis Heraklion remains shocked by the heinous murder that took place at noon on Wednesday, when a 33-year-old Frenchman set up a car and, driving at speed, ran over a woman, causing her to take her last breath.

During the preliminary investigation, the 33-year-old accused of homicide confessed to the authorities that he beat and killed the 36-year-old Rania.

Speaking on Thursday morning on the SKAI show, “Today”, the press representative of EL.AS, Constantia Dimoglidou claimed that the 33-year-old did not know the 36-year-old.

He also claimed that the 33-year-old has been in trouble with the authorities many times mainly for domestic violence and had been arrested. In fact, it has also been given to his partner panic button.

Mrs. Dimoglidou also argued that after a prosecutor’s order that had come to the police at some point from his partner, the 33-year-old was arrested and taken to a public hospital to be examined but no decision was made to incarcerate him in a psychiatric clinic.

They caught him in the supermarket

Immediately after the incident, the 33-year-old man got on the hood and began cursing the 36-year-old woman, then fled the scene of the crime. As soon as the residents realized what had happened and that the 33-year-old had left, they started chasing him.

In fact, according to cretalive.gr, the 33-year-old punched badly even a local who tried to stop him when he saw the 36-year-old lying dead on the street.

The perpetrator started running and managed to reach the main street of Kokkini Hani. He walked almost 4 kilometers until he was spotted and arrested in an episodic way by a police officer of AT. Peninsula, although he was off duty. When the perpetrator realized that they were looking for him, he fled to a local supermarket to escape. The officer followed him and immediately asked the employees to close all the doors. “He has killed a man,” he shouted. But again the 33-year-old managed to escape through a small auxiliary door that the store has. The perpetrator went outside and managed to enter the backyard of a residence where he was finally arrested by the police officer and a citizen.

He didn’t seem dangerous, says the psychiatrist

On December 12, the perpetrator was transferred from the Rethymno police station for a psychiatric examination to the psychiatric clinic of the Rethymno Hospital by prosecutor’s order. However, it was deemed that the conditions for his hospitalization were not met and he was not hospitalized.

The psychiatrist of the Rethymno Hospital, Antonis Christonakis, who came into contact with the perpetrator before the crime, spoke to neakriti.gr about the man’s condition. As he said, the attacker “didn’t seem dangerous, that’s why he wasn’t hospitalized”.

“He was completely calm. His apparent delirium was about no one but himself and the “fake” father he was looking for. He wasn’t even self-destructive. The testimonies that the police have are not shared with us, we are looking in “murky waters”. He was not a danger to himself or others, there was nowhere to be seen. He was offered treatment, medication and he didn’t accept it,” said Mr. Christonakis.

“There was no sign of today, otherwise we would have kept him in the hospital for treatment. I examined him 6 days ago, I cannot know what happened in that time that led him there. Things are not as they say in television media”, he added.

The video from the moment of the abduction is shocking

The moment of the murder has been captured on video – document with the images being shocking.

In the video, it appears that the driver of the vehicle initially maintains a distance from the 36-year-old’s car and shortly before the woman gets out of it, he backs off a few meters. When the 36-year-old opens the door of her vehicle and gets out of it, it seems to start and fall violently on her. The impact is so severe that the body of the 36-year-old woman ends up several meters away, while the I.X. turns over.

Eyewitnesses describe scenes of panic, with local residents running out of their homes after the deafening noise of the collision. The woman was taken to Venizelio Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Cultural Association of Anopolis, with a touching post, says goodbye to “his” Rania, “a man full of kindness, love and smile” as it says, with words that break hearts.

“With unspeakable sadness and deep anger, our village says goodbye to our Rania, a child of ours who left us so unfairly. Her life was violently and unfairly cut short, leaving behind a huge void in our hearts.

Rania was a person full of kindness, love and smile. She was a girl who grew up among us, we shared moments with her, and we all remember her for her brightness and her pure soul. Our village mourns not only for the loss of one of our own people, but also for the injustice that took her away from us.

Our dear Rania, have a nice trip. Your village will never forget you.” says the announcement of the PS.
