Sadness and anger have been caused by the murder of 36-year-old Rania when a 33-year-old French man set up a car and, driving a speeding car, fatally dragged her out of her home in Anopoli in Heraklion, Crete.

According to cretapost, 36-year-old Rania, who worked as a cook in various hotels in the area, had recently been facing a serious health problem. She had been diagnosed with bowel cancer and yesterday, the day of her murder, she had just returned from the Artificial Kidney Unit where she was undergoing dialysis.

“I was at home and at some point I hear a loud marching from a car. At first I thought my son-in-law had come. As soon as I opened the door to go out I hear the bang. I go out and see the scenery and Rania. I call EKAV and go to her. She looks at me and I tell her, “Rania, hold on, an ambulance is coming,” Mrs. Gogo, a neighbor of the unfortunate 36-year-old woman, pointed out in her statement to cretapost.gr.

Then Mrs. Gogo also referred to the perpetrator: “At some point I see the perpetrator getting out of his car. He had absolutely no trauma, not even a scratch. He climbs into his ramshackle car and begins cursing Rania in French. I say to him “what are you doing, what are you saying??? You killed her and you curse her too”. He then gets down, takes the jacket and leaves the scene.”

Speaking on Thursday morning on the SKAI program, “Today”, the press representative of the Hellenic Socialist Party, Konstantia Dimoglidou, referred to the 33-year-old who is accused of murder, saying that he did not know the 36-year-old.

He also claimed that the 33-year-old has concerned the authorities many times mainly for domestic violence and had been arrested. In fact, his partner has also been given a panic button.

Mrs. Dimoglidou also argued that after a prosecutor’s order that had come to the police at some point from his partner, the 33-year-old was arrested and taken to a public hospital to be examined but no decision was made to incarcerate him in a psychiatric clinic.

The 36-year-old’s family files a lawsuit against everyone responsible

The question marks are relentless, and so are the responsibilities that relatives will seek. The 36-year-old’s family is determined to take legal action against anyone responsible, both criminally and civilly. Today, Thursday, even through the family’s lawyer Mr. Giorgos Kokosalis, an indictment will be filed against all those responsible in order to be included in the preliminary police investigation being conducted for the case and this part of the responsibilities so that they are related, as reported by cretalive.gr.

For the family there are clear omissions of due actions causally linked to the murder of the unfortunate Rania. These omissions are allegedly related to the handling of the 33-year-old six days before the murder, as an involuntary hospitalization procedure at the Psychiatry of Rethymno had been initiated against him by prosecutor’s order. It is noted that the 33-year-old was hospitalized for 24 hours and then discharged as it was determined that he does not need to remain in hospital. He was not considered dangerous to harm third parties or even himself.

“They left a mobile bomb on the streets”

As it became known, it was not only the domestic incidents at the expense of his ex-partner. On the evening of December 12th, he allegedly appeared in a delirious state at the Department, in Rethymnon, asking to find his real father.

“All of Greece is watching these aspects of the unprecedented murder in shock. The family mourns Rania who left so prematurely, violently and unjustly. People are inconsolable, but shocked by what is revealed about the profile and history of the perpetrator. And despite their deep pain, they feel a duty to the memory of the dead girl to demand that the responsibilities of those who did not do their job properly and let a ‘mobile bomb’ roam the streets and kill innocent people be investigated,” he told the local media Mr. George Kokosalis.
