A criminal organization was dismantled, whose members were active in the importation of narcotics into Greece, via the air route, and then in their further trafficking, by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of Northern Greece of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime.

4 arrests

A total of -4- members of the organization were arrested for the case, against whom a case file was filed – as the case may be – for criminal organization and violations of the laws on drugs and weapons.

It was preceded by the detection and seizure by Athens Airport Customs officials of -2- postal parcels which were found to have entered from an Asian country by air, with a final destination of Serres and contained -10- kilograms and -292- grams. cannabis.

Subsequently, after the relevant approval of the competent Prosecutor’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Coordinating Body assigned the Cannabis and Synthetic Drugs Office of the Drug Enforcement Department to carry out a “controlled delivery” operation of the postal packages.

As part of the “controlled delivery”, the -4- defendants were located in a post office in the Serres area, during the receipt of the above parcels, where they were arrested.

In particular, one of the accused entered the store in order to receive the parcels, while the others -3- remained outside, taking counter-surveillance and surveillance measures.

What did the investigations find?

From the further searches carried out in houses, vehicles, but also from body searches, additional items were found and confiscated:

  • -8.3- grams cannabis,
  • -4,700- euros,
  • -6- mobiles,
  • baseball bat,
  • knife and
  • vehicle.

Those arrested were taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
