5 members of the group were arrested, accused – as the case may be – of criminal organization, harmful drugs, money laundering
The value of what was confiscated by the police, during the operation to dismantle a criminal group that was active in the trafficking of anabolic steroids and nutritional supplements containing prohibited substances, dangerous to human health, exceeds 46,000 euros.
An operation was carried out yesterday in Thessaloniki and Larissa by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of Northern Greece of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime during which 5 members of the group were arrested, accused – as the case may be – of criminal organization, harmful drugs, money laundering and violations of legislation for sports and food.
According to the police, the criminal group, through a retail trade company of food products based in Thessaloniki that had been set up by a 34-year-old, with the participation of a 59-year-old, and in which a 24-year-old and a 26-year-old are temporarily charged, trafficked illegal preparations, with the aim of obtaining illegal financial benefits.
In addition, the 34-year-old also maintained another sole proprietorship in the same area, of the same activity, as well as an e-commerce website, through which the illegal preparations were promoted and sold.
From the further preliminary investigation and financial investigation, it emerged that the 34-year-old, on behalf of the criminal group, procured the illegal preparations from a company based in Poland, through orders he made by exchanging messages, while for the relevant purchases and sales inaccurate invoices were issued in terms of the items sold .
It was also established that the 34-year-old man was supplying one of the illegal nutritional supplements from a company based in Larissa, whose manager and full member is a 48-year-old member of the criminal group, with the total value of the sales invoices amounting to 91,873 euros.
The members of the criminal group succeeded, through the e-commerce website, in the legalization of the income from the purchase and sale of the illegal preparations, as no sales documents were issued to separate the illegal preparations from the legal ones.
From the searches carried out, a total of the following were found and seized:
- 68,750 capsules and 130,926 kilograms of illegal preparations,
- 119 vials and
- 50- tablets containing anabolic substances, syringe,
- 5,640 euros,
- value watch, mobile and sales reports from company trading program.
