“The Municipality of Athens has not proceeded to auction the property of a vulnerable citizen. Of course, this will never happen with the mayorship of Haris Doukas”, it is initially stated in the announcement which comes in response to the press office of the KKE regarding the auction of the first home of an unemployed person for debts to the municipality.

“The Municipality of Athens has not proceeded to auction the property of a vulnerable citizen. Of course, this will never happen with the mayorship of Haris Doukas”, the announcement initially states and adds:

“On the contrary, with a recent decision of the municipal council, municipal fees were zeroed out for many categories of economically weaker citizens. The municipality’s services, however, are required by Law. 5027/23 to intensify their actions, in order to collect debts confirmed until the year 2019. Otherwise, the competent officials must be accountable to the statutory audit mechanisms (Audit Court).

The municipality’s efforts are aimed at notifying and facilitating debtors to pay off their obligations, now that the favorable arrangement of 60 installments is in effect. This regulation expires on 31/1/2025″.

“Obviously there will be no auction for the case mentioned by the KKE. Which, of course, knows all of the above since 4/24/2024, since it was informed during the meeting of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Athens”, concludes the announcement.
