Request to the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Christos Stylianidis sent on Thursday, December 19, the Mayors of Thessaloniki, Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissosregarding the inclusion of the ferry connection between Thessaloniki and the Northern Sporades as a subsidized barren line.

According to a report by thestival.gr, a corresponding request was made last July, to include the subsidy of the connection in the program of the annual subsidized lines, in order to start the ferry connection on time.

The Mayors emphasized that the re-approval will significantly contribute to the strengthening of tourist traffic and the stimulation of the economic activity of the regions, given the multiplier benefits that resulted from the routing of this particular line from 2021.

Considering that the Ministry of Shipping has been responding to the request of the Municipalities in recent years, since only the subsidy makes the routing of a high-speed ship viable, it seems that there will be a positive development.
