Sadness has spread over the death of 9-year-old André, who was at the Christmas market in Magdeburg at the time of the attack
A 9-year-old boy is among the victims of Friday night’s attack at Magdeburg’s Christmas market.
The boy, little André Gleißner, was killed when 50-year-old Saudi doctor Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, full of rage, ran him over with the car he was driving at breakneck speed.
With a heartbreaking post on Facebook, his mother cannot believe that her little son is no longer alive “You will always live in our hearts. I promise you this” he writes among other things.
“Let my little bear fly around the world again. André didn’t do anything to anyone. He was with us on earth for only nine years. Why you? Why? I don’t understand. Now you are with grandma and grandpa in heaven. They missed you so much, as much as we miss you here now. You will always live in our hearts. I promise you that,” she writes features in her message.
Thousands of users have written messages of support under her post.
Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, 50, a doctor by profession who arrived in Germany in 2006, was remanded in custody and faces charges of murder, attempted murder and grievous bodily harm.
The 9-year-old was among the victims of the attack. Four women, aged 45 to 75, were also killed and more than 200 were injured.
Saudi Arabia had warned Germany “four times” about the suspect’s extremist views, Saudi officials said, but German authorities did not consider him dangerous.
