The program “Astypalea – Smart and Sustainable Island” passes to its next phase, perhaps the most special as it is characterized by wide smiles and intense emotions: the delivery of the first electric vehicles to residents of the island has begun! A few days ago, the first Volkswagen e-up was delivered to a resident of Astypalea! while two more received the first Seat MÓ scooters. The three vehicles were ordered at the end of last year and are the first private electric vehicles circulating on the roads of the island, while in the coming weeks will follow the delivery of the respective ID.3 and ID.4.

Both the Volkswagen e-up! as well as Seat MÓ were ordered at preferential prices through the specialized online platform astypalea-sustainable-island.gr, as well as – as will follow – benefit from significant subsidies offered by the Hellenic Republic and the Volkswagen Group in cooperation with Kosmocar.

The delivery of the first e-up! in Astypalea has an additional special semiology: after many months of interruption, due to extremely high demand, e-up! is now available again to order in Germany! It is noteworthy that last year, with 30,800 deliveries, the e-up! took second place among the most popular electric vehicles in Germany, regardless of brand!

The first e-up! circulating in Astypalea has an electric power of 61 kW / 83 PS. The maximum autonomy (according to WLTP) reaches 258 kilometers. In addition to its dynamic performance – thanks to features such as the high torque of 210 Nm – the e-up! has excellent energy efficiency, 12.7 kWh / 100 kilometers. Among other standard features, the model has a CCS charging plug for fast charging, with the 32.2 kWh (net) battery being charged to a 40 kW DC charger at 80% of its capacity, in just 60΄. In a 7.2 kW AC charger, the same charge takes about four hours.

The delivery of electric vehicles to private customers, residents of Astypalea, follows the delivery at the beginning of last summer of the first electric vehicles to public services of the island, namely the Police, the Coast Guard, the Municipal Authority and the Civil Aviation Service.
