A new program, that of “Caretaker of the Neighborhood“, which will be implemented next year, within the framework of the National Strategy for Long-Term Care and will operate according to the standards of the programs “Neighborhood Nannies” and “Personal Assistant» for people with disabilities, the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Sofia Zaharakis announced today.

Ms. Zaharakis, speaking to MEGA and after referring to the improved “Spiti my II” program, which starts on January 15 of next year, with more favorable conditions, compared to the first program (extends to ages up to 50 years, expands the value of the house for purchase up to 250,000 euros, with the loan covering 90% of the value, etc.), he emphasized that with the “Neighborhood Caretaker” Greece acquires for the first time a strategy for long-term care that concerns every person in need at any age.

As the minister clarified, the program, at the end of next year, will not only concern the elderly and the “Neighborhood Caretaker” will help an elderly person, a person with a disability, in everyday life.

Ms. Zaharaki specifically mentioned that “for the first time, the state will pay a private person who will come and take care of a person in need with a stamp. The models of “Personal Assistant” and “Neighborhood Babysitters” will be given a voucher of around 500 to 550 euros.

Each caregiver will be able to have more than one person just like Neighborhood Babysitters. What we should do is an informed discussion about the criteria and conditions that must be met by the carer. For example, in the “Neighborhood Babysitters” program, we have defined an asynchronous training program on the internet and First Aid learning.
