A Coast Guard officer was injured in the process speedboat chase which earlier left 30 migrants in the area of ​​Lesvos.

It all happened at noon on Thursday when a Coast Guard patrol boat spotted a speedboat disembarking immigrants in the marine area “AGRILIA” of Lesvos.

The traffickers’ boat deployed high speed directed towards Turkish coasts with the patrol car trying to immobilize it using light and sound signals, but without success.

During the pursuit that followed, the speedboat performed dangerous maneuvers and attempted to ram the patrol car, which then hit the side-on, resulting in the injury of a member of the Coast Guard, according to Grtimes.gr.

The speedboat was immobilized finally, while the were arrested two foreign operators of, age 31 and 25 years old.

A second vessel of the Coast Guard arrived at the scene and transported the injured man to the port of Mytilene, from where he was picked up by an EKAV ambulance and transferred to the General Hospital of Mytilene ¨BOSTANIO¨, for the provision of first aid.

In land surveys carried out in the wider area, were detected by police officers 30 foreignerswho were transferred to the KYT Kara Tepe ¨MAVROVOUNI¨.

The Central Port Authority of Mytilini, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, confiscated the speedboat and a knife with a 10 cm long blade that was carried by the 25-year-old arrested.
