“I am particularly happy because we achieved an important goal. We have reached 5,000 tree plantings in Athens by 2024”, said the mayor Haris Doukas during the planting and added: “We continue vigorously at the same pace in the new year in order to make our city greener and more resilient. For his part, the Deputy Mayor for Environment and Greenery, Giorgos Apostolopoulos, emphasized: “The last tree planting of 2024 is taking place in the forecourt of the Old Parliament. Together with the agronomists and specialized partners, we will green the city in 2025 as well.”
Through the Green Department, the municipality of Athens throughout 2024, planted 5,000 new trees in groves, parks, hills, flowerbeds and sidewalks of the city.

- 440 trees and 250 bushes on Lycabettus hill with the assistance of We4All & Astra Zeneca volunteers.
