The 23-year-old man who was arrested in Thessaloniki after a complaint by a 61-year-old woman that he tried to rape her on New Year’s morning in Pylaia was referred to an investigator to apologize.

In criminal charges were brought against her for attempted rape, robbery, dangerous bodily harm, intimidation and violence against employees. Until he passes the interrogation threshold, he will remain a prisoner, as he requested and received a deadline, according to voria.gr.

The 61-year-old complained that the 23-year-old attempted to force her into a sexual act by threatening to use violence, hit her with his helmet and a bottle and took her mobile phone. Police officers located and arrested the 23-year-old, despite his attempt to escape and the strong resistance he put up during his arrest.

He, however, reportedly denies the accusations attributed to him, claiming that he and the complainant had a prearranged date to meet and that he did not attempt to rape her, nor that he took her mobile phone.
