A total of 31 old cars and 36 two-wheelers were removed from the city’s streets – “Public space must be respected by everyone”
The municipality proceeded with the removal of dozens of old cars and motorcycles, which had been abandoned for a long time on the streets of Thessaloniki, occupying valuable parking spaces and in several cases had turned into foci of contamination.
In the context of the interventions of the municipal authority for the liberation of the public space, which continued during the holidays and more specifically in the month of December, they were withdrawn a total of 31 old cars and 36 two-wheelers.
As the Municipality of Thessaloniki emphasizes in its relevant post, “public space must be respected by everyone. The concerted effort to provide additional parking spaces to citizens continues.”
It is added that the following stages are required for the withdrawal of old vehicles: initially the competent services locate the abandoned cars and engines and record their condition. Then, the owners are informed, who in some cases are asked to withdraw the vehicles within a certain period of time, while the third stage is their transportation to special recycling areas, where their materials are recovered (metals, plastics, glass panes, etc. .a.) and hazardous liquids are removed in a safe manner.
