In the morning hours yesterday, his floating boat Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guards, which was on a planned patrol, spotted in the sea area of ​​”AFANTOU” bay in Rose a speedboat moving at high speed with a course towards the opposite Turkish shores. And while the Coast Guard vessel proceeded to use light and sound signals, the speedboat did not respond. A pursuit by the LS boat followed, resulting in the immobilization of the speedboat.
Its two foreign passengers (a citizen of Turkey and a citizen of Azerbaijan), aged 25 and 27, were taken to the Central Port Authority of Rhodes. During the preliminary investigation process it emerged that the above transported and disembarked a sufficient number of foreigners from Fethiye, Turkey to the eastern coast of Rhodes. On land, investigations were conducted by L.S.-EL.AKT officials. to locate the landed aliens, with negative results so far.
The above-mentioned foreigners were arrested by the Central Port Authority of Rhodes, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, for violation of Law. 5038/23 “Trafficking of third-country nationals in Greek territory” and Law 3386/2005 “Illegal entry into the country”, while the speedboat was confiscated.
