Michalis Katrinis: A great loss for Greece and PASOK – We say goodbye to him with deep pain and emotion
“The death of Kostas Simitis is a great loss for Greece and for PASOK.
Kostas Simitis left a strong political imprint on our recent political history.
His governance was identified with achievements of a national scope, such as the country’s accession to the EMU and the accession of Cyprus as a full member of the European Union.
He was the authentic exponent of a political thought for the modernization of the country and the strengthening of its European identity.
A consistent fighter and a deep democrat, he vigorously resisted the dictatorship.
He kept PASOK united and led it to two electoral victories, always giving his “present” in the struggles of the great democratic faction.
All of us say goodbye to him with deep pain but also great emotion”, wrote PASOK – Movement for Change MP Michalis Katrinis.
