“It is aimed at women of every age and every body type,” declares the president of the Catchball team in Soufli on the camera of the show “Where Greece is”
Women triumph in catchball in Soufli. The sport, as mentioned on the camera of the show “Where Greece is”, the president of the “Irida Soufliou” team, Anna Gaitatzi, brought it to the region herself.
“Catchball is a sport similar to volleyball. It started in Israel. You just don’t hit the ball, you catch it and throw it. It is a sport aimed at women,” explains the president of the team.
As he states, when they were given the opportunity to go play for the first time in Romania, five players had gathered, while six were needed. “We didn’t make it to six. When we came back from Romania, however, the girls came and met it and we became 25”.
She emphasizes that the nice thing about catchball is that all women are given the opportunity to play, to leave the house, to enter the field. “He has made us a company, a team. It is aimed at women of all ages and body types. Imagine our youngest player is 23 years old and our oldest is 53. And I play with my daughters and my two daughters, but we also have a mom who plays with her daughters here.”
