The funeral service for Jason Triantafyllidis will be held on Thursday.

The journalist and film critic left his last breath yesterday, Monday at 61.

As ESIEA informs, “Jason Triantafyllidis’ funeral service will be chanted on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 1 after noon, at the Church of Transfiguration of Sotiros in Chalandri.”

“Yesterday, at the age of 61, the excellent colleague Paul (Iason) Triantafyllidis passed away.

Jason Triantafyllidis was born in Athens in 1964. His long career in the artistic report began very early, in 1985, in the newspaper “Anagni”. In 1993, he continued in the newspaper “Free Press”, which was succeeded by Dimitris Rizou’s “Unbound Press”, where he continued for more than a decade as the head of the artistic section of the newspaper. He has collaborated with a multitude of magazines, including: “Woman”, “Faces”, “I”, “Diphon”, “Mirror” and “Bazaar”. In recent years, he regularly wrote in the “Journal of Editors”, writing in the “Third Look” column every Friday.

He participated in the first steps of private television on the “cocktail” show “Mega Channel” while collaborating with “ET1”, “ET2”, “Star Channel” television stations, on shows on the arts and culture, interviews and tributes.

With a strong radio presence, he worked at the “ERA”, “Top FM”, “Flash”, “Ant1” and “Athens 9.84” stations where he remained until the end with the daily show “Athens, do you hear me?”

Jason Triantafyllidis in his many years of career, was distinguished as a cinema and theater critic, artistic author and columnist. He was engraved in the public’s memory for the sharpness, cultivation and vibrancy of his speech. Through the television shows he became more widely known and loved for his authenticity, unique style and humor. With a unique ability, he could convey to the public, understandable, the content of his reports.

Based on his deep knowledge of cultural and artistic events and in particular the history of Greek song in cinema, he wrote numerous books and biographies of great personalities in Greek cinema. His works include: “In the end the cloth speaks”, “The Magic of Musicals”, “Films for Kissing”, “Sasa Dario”, “Finos Film, Comedies”, “100 Years of Dimitris Horn”, as well as Series of books for Maria Callas.

In 2017, he was elected a member of the Board of Directors of the ESIEA Educational Foundation where he remained for two years.

The Board of Directors expresses its heartfelt condolences to the family and its relatives and bids farewell to a remarkable colleague who, with his morality and ingenuity, taught a centered journalism.
