The challenges facing the tourism industry in Santorini, the timely taking appropriate measures to prepare the new tourist season and to ensure the stability of the tourism product in the area were at the center of a meeting today by EOT Secretary General Andreas Fiorentinos of the island, in the context of continuous communication and cooperation with tourism agencies for the Dealing the effects of seismic activity in the area.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of the close cooperation of all stakeholders in order to have a single message and to enhance the confidence of visitors and tourism professionals.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of Tourism Development, Vassia Koutsoukou, the president of the Santorini Hoteliers Association, Antonis Pagonis, the president of the “Atlantis” room rental union, Lefteris Anapliotis and officials.

During the meeting, Mr. Fiorentinos stressed that “Greece has the experience, infrastructure and mechanisms to manage every challenge with calm and efficiency. Our tourism is powerful and Santorini remains an emblematic destination, with timeless value and dynamic. In the midst of collaboration and the right planning, we will ensure that the island welcomes the new tourist season with the best possible conditions. “

For her part, Ms Koutsoukou noted that “the Ministry of Tourism has the experience and know -how for the effective management of any challenge in Greek tourism”.
As noted, the EOT will set the tools it has to enhance the attractiveness of the Greek tourism product, in the service of local bodies, with the aim of more effectively promoting the destination in international markets.

The meeting is part of the Government’s overall strategy for the immediate and effective management of the challenges that arise, coordinated with Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogiannis and South Aegean Regional Governor George Hatzimarkos.
