A total of 9.5 hours were suffering from the 27 -year -old with meningitis in PAGNI TEPs as they could not find an empty bed in the ICU of the largest hospital in Crete.

The 27 -year -old, according to secure sources in Cretalive, was from 6:00 pm on Saturday afternoon (8/2) to 3:00 on Sunday morning in emergency, although his health is considered serious.

Specifically, the organic positions for ICU beds throughout Crete are 71 but are developed only 50 of them.

According to Cretalive information, the details are as follows:

  • In PAGNI there were 27 ICO beds on Covid, today there are only 20.
  • There were 15 in Venizelio, and today there are only 12.
  • In Agios Nikolaos there were 9 beds on Covid, and today there are only 4.
  • There are 7 ICU beds in Rethymnon.
  • In Chania from the 13 beds that are organic positions only 7.

As far as the General Hospital of Chania is concerned, it is particularly worth noting that while there was a donation of ICU beds by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (ISN) 6 beds have not yet been developed, with the consequence of the Niarchos unit remaining closed. The unit is reportedly closed as not a single hire of nurses who would staff the unit has been made.
