A national was identified by the Northern Greece Cybercrime Prosecution, in the context of investigating an investigation of online fraud and cryptocurrency theft, worth 53,825 euros.

A regular procedure file was filed against him for a computer fraud and illegal access to an information system or data.

It was preceded by a resident of a resident, according to which unknown perpetrators gained illegal access to his email account and then to his account in a cryptocurrency exchange. Subsequently, 3 transactions were carried out, in which cryptocurrencies, totaling EUR 53,825, were transferred to digital wallets managed by the perpetrators, with the aim of gaining illegal assets.

The evidence of the case was taken into account by the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office, which ordered a preliminary examination, in which and after a detailed police and digital – online investigation, the 45 -year -old was identified as a subscriber to the Internet link from which the criminal offenses were carried out.

What was found in investigations

Subsequently, a survey conducted at his home, in the presence of a judicial officer, found and confiscated a laptop computer and 3 cell phones with SIM cards.

The seized digital evidence will be sent to the Criminal Investigations Division for the necessary laboratory tests while the case file was submitted to the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office.
