The bird, found trapped in twine, obviously identified the signs of exhaustion passing through the Kalloni Skala
Coordinated care of the care of an injured flamingo found trapped in a kite string on the beach of Skala Kalloni Lesvos was organized by the Museum of Natural History of Petrified Forest of Lesvos and the Kalloni Environmental Information Center (KEPEN) in collaboration with the team of Kalloni.
The bird, clearly the signs of exhaustion, identified a passing resident of Skala Kalloni, who approached it and carefully unleashed it.
Subsequently, Flamingo was transferred to the building facilities of the Kalloni Environmental Information Center where a Podaz’s rescuer and CSN executives offered him first aid.
After contacting the ANIMA – Wildlife Protection and Care Association, it was considered necessary to be transferred to Athens for proper medical care.
“Particularly enjoyable is the great awareness observed by residents of the wider area on issues related to the protection of Lesvos wetlands, as well as birds who find refuge and stay there,” said the director of the Museum of Natural History.
“The Museum of Natural History of Petrified Forest Lesvos and the Kalloni Environmental Information Center continues its activities with the aim of recording, studying and protecting wetlands living in the protected areas of Lesvos,” Mr Zouros added.
